Current Kubuntu System,

Today I run an Apple MAC as well as a Kubuntu (Linux) system.

My current project (Mar 2016) is to get X11 running between the two boxes.

My Linux System:

CPU: i&-3820 CPU @ 3.6 GHz which includes 8 cpu's
Mem: 15.6 Gig

Software:  Kubuntu 14.04
KDELibs Version: 4.13.3
Qt Version 4.8.6
Kernal version: 3.13.0-36-generic
OS Type: 64-bit

My Important Apps:

Firefox, Chrome, KSnapshot, Dolphin, Gwenview, Amarok,

KeePass2 (password manager) to use the same encrypted password file between: ipad, windows, and Kubuntu

Google Desktop apps, so I can use the same tools and the same data across multiple platforms. (Google Drive, Google Docs, etc)

Backup and Recovery:

A Backup and Restore utility for dummies would be a great addition to kubuntu. It seems that the Apple iMAC has such an app. I'll find out about it soon, as I decided to get the new 27" Retina screen on the iMAC. I intend to use it to log into Kubuntu, either through x-windows or via a virtual machine.

I currently use are a few scripts (seen here), and I found a wonderful system to recover: The SystemRescueCD, which I installed on a usb drive.

My system can boot from the usb stick and it gives me a full unix system with gui tools to recover my data.
